Ghana 2004

Ghana 2004 SES Expedition - Read about the plans for the expedition on the SES (Scientific Exploration Society) website here. Read the interim report on the results of the expedition by Professor Adrian Lister here.

Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary - A remote and primitive spot on Ghana's northwestern border with Burkina Faso. The hippos in the Black Volta river are protected by the local people, who have set up a community eco-tourism project.

Baobeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary - This is near Techiman, which we visited on the way back to southern Ghana. The villagers have not hunted the monkeys in the small forest surrounding the village for hundreds of years, with the result that they are habituated to people and easy to photograph.

Return to Winneba - there is a strange feeling on returning to a place in which you lived thirty five years ago.

Ghana 2004 Gallery - The best of the bunch!
